Spike: A digital assistant that is intelligent to help drivers using Mini
The British automaker Mini is continuing its operations as part of BMW it has launched My "intelligent personal assistant" solution called Spike. Its title Mini Spike was inspired by the English Bulldog that appeared in some of its ads previously. The Mini Spike will debut at the Auto Show located in Shanghai, China later this month. The company is planning to include Spike into the vehicles that it launches in the near future. These include the 2023 Mini Countryman, the 2024 Mini Countryman, the 2024 Mini Cooper and the 2025 Aceman Crossover SUV.
What Spike is able to do in the cars is not clear as of now. In the demonstration scheduled for Shanghai it was mentioned that the digital assistant’s capability to assist drivers with different topics can be displayed. Attendees will observe what’s known as the Spike of the Aceman’s circular OLED display as well as the dial.

“We’re taking Spike in the near future, as a virtual character,” explained Oliver Heilmer, Mini’s head of design. This isn’t an experiment in design. Spike will become an accompanying character to users.”
The Carscoops website notes this feature Spike is very similar to features that they have in their cars. The feature is able to guide users verbally through the vehicle’s informational capabilities. When you use this feature, called the Mini Spike, this sound is said to correspond to the form of the dog.
